Favorite non-DJI drone

DJI did away with geofencing. I was about to give up on them because it was a real pain in the neck. The following is an AI quote I pulled.

“DJI has removed the geofencing feature from its drones in the United States as of January 13, 2025. This means DJI drones no longer automatically prevent flights in restricted airspace, and instead, pilots will receive warnings when flying near such areas.”

My back up, that used to be my primary, is a Yuneec Typhoon H Plus. It’s rather large and does not have a zoom option on the camera; and yes I have trimmed some leaves with it and even bumped a vent stack once. At this point it is a dinosaur.
What ever you decide to get, I suggest getting one with a camera with with zoom. My DJI Mini 3 has the 2x zoom and it’s small and very maneuverable.

I don’t have any specific brand to suggest based on experience, but I believe maneuverability and the zoom feature should be part of your consideration on what to buy. Also a devoted RC controller is the way to go. I have a DJI Mini 2 and don’t use it anymore because I too had to many problems with flying it through a smart phone.

All that being said: if I was to up my game I would consider trying the Autel Robotics EVO II Pro 6K Rugged Bundle V3 with digital zoom of 1 to 16x !

That’s what they make these things for.

I own 4 different versions. For home inspections the Lite series work great. Most of them come in 3 different colors.

I didn’t ask anything. Just commented that I don’t like the ones you have to use your phone with the controller. Have had bad luck with those in the past.
