What is your favorite non-DJI drone and why? I just retired my Mavic Zoom, which I loved. I replaced it with DJI AIR3 and a Neo. I’m terribly disappointed with these new purchases and wish to replace them with something else. I’m having issues with controller switching and constant firmware updates. I’d like to know about your favorite drone that isn’t a DJI. I shouldn’t have to write this, but THIS IS NOT A THREAD TO DEBATE THE USEFULNESS OF DRONES. I’ve got work to do and I don’t care about those opinions. Thank you for your participation.
Hmmm, okay. Let’s talk about buttered sausage.
While we wait for some input on non-DJI drones, I am interested in some details about your Air 3. I bought one late last year and it has been awesome. I check for firmware updates about once a month, and so far it has only found one when I go and check.
What is “controller switching?”
Also, do you have the DJI RC 2 controller with the display? I sprung for that so I wouldn’t have to use my phone. In my experience, using a phone adds issues with DJI drones.
My favorite non-DJI drone is a member on this BB. He drones on and on and on and finally winds up in space he is so out of it!
I got a Neo for flying close to trees. Many folks here love to crowd their homes with lots of trees and I lost my Zoom when it crashed into a tree. I’m using the RC-N2 controller with an iPad for easier viewing. Using the same controller for both drones is supposed to be seamless but I’m having to re-pair AND download firmware every time I switch. 90% of my area has little to no cell tower and this is a non-starter for me. I also don’t like the way the Air3 flies as opposed to the Mavic Zoom.
Same in my area, lol. I do a bit of “tree trimming” on occasion with the drone. I keep a half-dozen of each propeller config in my case. Lose those orange tips all the time while trimming trees.
Try BWINE drones they are very good, no problems at all. F7aim
I use an EXO drone for roof inspections because they have zero limitations on where you can fly it, no geofencing or permissions needed. Blackhawk 3 Pro | Exo Drones
Autel makes great drones. They’re pricey, but quality. I have a couple DJI drones, but primarily use the Autel anymore.
I know who that is! WAFI #1! Is there a prize?
I’ll leave it up to each person to decide who the “Drone” is. The prize is one months close quarter living with your favorite drone.

I had never heard of them before. Looking through their website, I think the biggest issue I would have is that you have to use your phone for the controller. After having a dedicated screen controller with my Air 3, I can’t imagine going back to the phone deal. The phone just introduces too many more variables and also more time.

Not sure what this thing was, it was large. Flying a grid pattern about 500’ over us today…

It looks like one of these industrial drones:

My first comment was that thing is huge, it’s either commercial or military.

Your isn’t one of them I don’t think, but we have drones doing agricultural spraying in my area regularly now. The first time I saw one, I was shocked at how big they are.

This inspection was on the edge of farmland/everglades down by Alligator Alcatraz . We were there a couple weeks ago and you had to hold on to your tool bag to keep the mosquito’s from carrying them away. Today the mosquitos weren’t that bad, it was late in the day when I saw it, but thought about it spraying for skeeters.

That doesn’t look like a sprayer. Just surveillance. Big Brother stuff. Give it a wave, making sure to show off your red cap, it’ll go away.
YOU asked about a good drone, that’s the one to get.
It has its own controller. The phone is the screen,
