Some electricians just tighten the screws on the yoke so it can’t touch the box icon_wink.gif

This much smoke makes me think it was a pinched conductor or a missing wirenut doing the shorting.

I didn’t do any “further investigation” after the fireball, although I did offer to pay for the electrician to come out. I suggested he let me call my electrician so that I could remedy the situation immediately. He declined and called his own.

His electrician called me the next day to tell me "what a mess" I had made of that circuit and that he would have to run new cable for the entire circuit (six outlets and fixtures total).

I responded with a pleasant "thank you, just send me the bill." ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif) "Oh, and by the way, there are several open junction boxes, reverse polarity and ungrounded circuits you should take care of while you're there."

I figure they'll probably send me the bill for that as well. It's not likely that the bill will exceed my GL deductible so I'll have to try and spin this into a marketing/PR expense and write it off as such.
