Fellow Inspectors,

Have any of you heard about shingles that have an anti-fungal additive? I ask, because my mother is getting a new roof and the contractor is offering it. It adds $40 to the cost of the entire job. I did some googling, but no results. Sounds a bit like snake oil to me.

I just put a roof on my new garage. All 25 and 30 year Owens Corning shingles were A-F. The 20 year shingles were not.

For some reason they recommend not mixing them.

Here's my roof half finished:

What Joe is referring to is an add-on strip of zinc at the roof ridgeline shingles. These strips work fantastic. I recommend them to all my clients that have moss/algae growing on their roof.

There is also another product that is applied onto the surface of the shingles after the roof installation is complete, which is what I think your roofers are referring to?

Jim,

While I know you can loose the paper real easy, it really is much easier to just put the date you replaced the roof on a piece of paper and nail it to the inside of the garage wall, or maybe even spray paint the date on the inside of the garage wall. ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif)
