Gas fireplace flue/chimney to window clearance?

I can’t find any reference to a through roof gas fireplace vent to a window clearance requirement. I see wall clearances of 18” on some manufacturers specs. But this seems wrong to have a gas vent within arm’s reach of a primary bedroom window.

Don’t open the window when your using the fireplace. Not likely to anyway, I usually keep all windows closed when it is cold outside. Is that a master bedroom?

B-Vent is 12" inches if I am not mistaken.

That type of direct vent termination typically has a 12” clearance requirement to an operable window.

This is the rule I go by.

I agree with Kevin.

It should extend 2’ above the highest point of the home within 10’. This should take care of the clearance to the window as well.

My Heat & Glo installation instructions for vent terminal clearances states 9 inch clearance to window or door that may be opened, or to a permanently closes window. For Canada the distance is 12".

Is it a gravity or a direct venting fireplace unit?

That certainly looks like a Direct Vent type termination cap. If that is the case Usual standards are not less than 6 inches if 10,000 btu or less and not less than 12 inches if more than 10,000 btu. Manufactures may have specific clearances. The idea is exhaust is not going to be directly pulled in through an open window as the appliance is not creating a low pressure and the need for make-up and combustion to enter the window…that will be suppled by the (double wall) intake designed into the vent system.
