The goal of this course is to teach the student to perform a residential roof inspection and recognize general roof defects.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
identify and describe common roof-covering materials;
identify and describe best practices of installation techniques;
inspect for moisture intrusion problems;
identify proper installation of underlayment according to climate and roof conditions;
identify and describe flashing components;
inspect various flashing penetrations, including skylights, vents and chimneys; and;
communicate how climate affects the installation requirements for certain roof materials.
And, in keeping with InterNACHI’s commitment to Continuing Education, this course is open and free to all members, and can be taken again and again, without limit.
Students are free to pose questions and comments here and join in the conversation with other students. The thread will be monitored by the course instructor.
