Hey all you wonderful California Inspectors!! I had an idea and want to see if there is any traction with you guys. I’m looking to start a group text thread of CA inspectors that we can tap into during inspection for quick and supportive answers. Most of the time, I don’t have service to do it on site, or don’t remember when I get back to the office, or moreover, the forums are too toxic after the first response.
So just a yea/nae if any of you would be interested in a supportive, cooperative text thread, be non toxic or spammy. Just simple answers, pictures and responses. This would ideally be open to all owner inspectors and multi inspector employees. I’d like to keep this friendly and supportive and toxic free.
It would be great to have a group of smart people all helping each other out as needed. California preferred due to time zones and regulations/laws.
Although not from Commiefornia I certainly would not want it. I get enough “spammy” texts from career politicians and scammers already. Also while on site my time is dedicated to the client and not helping someone who can’t figure something out because they feel a need to know “right now” instead of taking notes/pictures and researching it themselves.
Of course that’s what this BB is about especially the “Emergency” section. So what you propose is to reinvent the wheel so you can have plenty of Inspectors there at your beck and call to perform your job.

So you don’t want to do your own research? Or are you looking for others to validate your insecurity?
If you don’t have service to text on site that means you can come back and use the Emergency section of this BB right? Otherwise why would you need an “immediate gratification” system like texting?
So two problems with that. One if you most of the time don’t have service on site, and can’t remember to take notes and pictures to remind yourself what you want to ask in the Emergency section of this BB then how are you texting on site?? If you are taking notes and pictures for later then why are you not able to do quick research later before asking others to help perform your report?
I have not seen that except in the case of Inspectors who do not know what they are doing and should and/or Inspectors that refuse to do their own research (even a small amount) where they would most likely not only answer their own questions but learn additional items in the process. In other words those that want others to write their reports for them and do not know what they are looking at.
So what point did I miss “entirely”? Would that be the point that you want an immediate text gratification and others to perform your job? Would it be that it is a selfish thing because after all " Most of the time, I don’t have service to do it on site" which means the text group would only be there for you basically when you don’t feel like doing your job and have service?
As for the deleted post, it was a funny rant about how Emmanuel Scanlan has a single star review stating "Terrible service. We hired emmanuel to do our home inspection. He was rude, condescending, and seemed like he did not know what he was talking about. " I had a nice laugh and then deleted it, trying to take the higher road.
