Are gutter straps an issue if they are screwed on top of shingles?
Technically, it should be strapped directly to the sheathing, but here in Minnesota with the required use of Ice Shield, it is common for the straps to be affixed to the surface of the shingles.
Although I rarely see any issue from this, I always make mention of it not being ‘best practice’.
On rare occasion will it cause an actual leak inside the home as it is only the first 10 inches or so from the drip edge.
