High Loop on Side of New Dishwasher

I just found this reference with some one who had the same question:
http://www.structuretech1.com/2010/07/dishwasher-drain/ He contacted several manufacturers and they still recommended a high loop…don’t really know why, seems back flow would be prevented by loop on dishwasher. Of course, this is not needed if there is an air gap. Sorry I started a discussion that went bad. Seems like we should always be trying to help each other and learn something along the way.

Ok, I got it now. Loop on dishwasher prevents back flow into dishwasher, but without a high loop, sewage can still hang out in discharge tube and create a stink.

LOL…I must be invisible

Do not worry about the sicko Roy.He has been kicked out of this association twice now.I think 3 strikes will do it.

If you wish to organize a bunch of his growing group of victims we can get rid of him for good by taking it to Nick.
He is kept here only for laughs .

He cries is way back in by saying one of his pretend employees did it. When he loses his SEO as I highly doubt he gets many referrals.

They didn’t summarily recommend a high loop. They recommended a high loop OR an air gap, AND following local codes. Here in San Diego, we use an air gap unless it’s not feasible, such as at some kitchen islands.

Or an air gap. If you use the high loop, though, it needs to be on the dishwasher drain side of the P trap.

Did I say something wrong Bob? Don’t cry.

Perhaps if Linas acted like a regular human and stopped pretending he knows what he is doing he would ask a few questions and learn.

Roy this was traced back to Linas a long time ago .
Lets get together with a few others and rid ourselves of him.

Some dishwashers as of manufacture date 2011 conform-possess backflow protection consisting of an internal-integral backflow prevention device (see owners manual) for any information regarding your dishwasher.

The high loop helps prevent the excess dirty water in the drain from flowing back into the dishwasher particularly on a long run like yours. By running it high, it will be one less obstruction inside the cabinet under the sink. It will come high into the cabinet and dive directly into the garbage disposer. You will have to squat down even to see that it is there.
This guide should help your needs, also this one is good too. Check this link if you interested to learn more about kitchen washing machines, this guys really succeed in reviews!

I often see dishwasher drain lines that come through the top of the cabinet wall, then drop to & along the cabinet bottom, finally going back up to the drain port on the disposal. I always comment on this observation as “Less effective high drain loop”. My narrative goes on to include, “This high drain loop is technically correct as it does prevent water & debris from draining into the dishwasher. What it does not do however, is prevent water & debris from draining/settling in the low spot of the drainline possibly creating a clog. If a clog does form in this drainline, it is possible that the dishwasher will leak as it tries to drain of the water. I recommend routing the drainline up to the underside of the countertop immediately after it attaches to the drain port on the disposal.” I also include a graphic depicting my correction recommendation.

Like someone else said, the high loop helps prevent the excess dirty water in the drain from going back into the dishwasher, especially if a long run. If you run it high, it will be one less obstruction inside the cabinet under the sink. Long story short, it will go to garbage disposal…

I personally got my dishwasher on Amazon, I believe the place I used for reference is here: https://www.officialtop5review.com/dishwashers
