Firmware says it’s a 2016, first one made.
Computers ruin everything. Worth more with the original engine.
Being a purist, I have to agree with Bob.
On the other hand, if you’re restomodding it, then yes, fuel injection is the only way to go.
Would the serial # 00000001 be more valuable unused, or would it bring that much more value to the Rocket 88 on a retrofit used? ![]()
Personally, I would keep the #1 and buy another for the car… ![]()
I’m trying to figure out if I truly have the first one made, or is it just a flaw in the firmware.
Olds pushrod introduction.
What generation the engine? Original, or need I ask?
Fuel injectors?
1955 original. But we’re changing the carb out so that I can drive it reliably.
Understandable, a 12 volt conversion with an HEI system might also be a good idea too.
Just be sure to keep all the original parts. ![]()
Nothing unreliable about carbs. I’ve rebuilt hundreds of them.
The purpose of fuel injection is efficiency. Towards that end an electronic ignition is probably a better investment as Kevin said. Mechanical wear and subsequent timing degradation condemned distributor systems to the COP (coil on plug) systems that are prevalent today. The Kensington ignition system had a good run though; lasted quite a few years.
