Evidently only retail outlets have to sell LED bulbs only. The local “Batteries and Bulbs” guy got angry when I asked him. Bought these through Amazon, Made in Hungary.
4 Bombillas! Whatever they are?

So if you burn it 3 hours a day, you only get a 0.9 year life span? No thanks.
I changed (almost) every bulb in my house over to philips LED bulbs over 11 years ago and have not yet had to replace one of them, not to mention the energy savings.
These aren’t the exact bulbs I used and is only meant as a comparison to your incandescent bulbs. $7.00 per year savings in energy consumption plus bulb replacement costs for me is a no brainer.
And all the while Edison’s original light bulb still works?
Not to mention the savings in cooling costs associated with using LED light sources…
So in areas like Minnesota, Wintertime heating costs would increase! Not much of benefit to trade-off for me!
Not necessarily. Depends on what fuel you are comparing it to for replacement heat. I would say the regular electric rate is typically higher priced as a source of heat, compared to other fuels.
How to circumvent Chinese bulbs
Use candles!
LED bulbs suck even the Philips bulbs!! Nothing can replace an incandescent bulb!!
Have to buy a “special” LED bulb for GDO’s, the circuitry interferes with the radio transceiver signal.
These RCA LED bulbs work well. 4 hours battery backup, when there’s a power outage. Take it out and use it as a flashlight. Recharges when power is restored.
That’s an interesting bulb. Where did you get those from?
I bought them at our local Kent hardware store.
This site has them listed.
The only problem is you can’t turn them off!
I agree. LED technology has revolutionized lighting. From office buildings and homes to autos, boats, airplanes, etc. the list of advancements is nearly endless. Why would someone want an incandescent lamp that costs 4X more to operate and lasts 1/10 of the lifespan of an equivalent LED?
A.) It doesn’t catch on fire B.) It’s NOT made in China
Now you explain why the current administration is subsidizing Chinese industry at the expense of our own (Brandon hasn’t increased our GDP one iota) and why they have mandated an increase in electrical consumption (despite LED bulbs) without building the needed infrastructure?
You can, same as a regular light bulb.
Right! So much for buy American, eh? Instead they mandate we purchase from a communist country. Not something I thought I would ever see in my lifetime.
My bride hates LED bulbs in our bathroom. She says they distorts the color of her makeup. Of course I stockpiled the incandescent bulbs! Happy wife, happy life! The hell with the carbon footprint
Exactly! Anything that needs accurate color reproduction needs better lighting than LED can provide
I am not clear on how you can make that statement. … 20% of a LED light’s energy is used to emit heat… LED lights do not contribute to the heat build-up in a room… 20% of that energy IS contributing to heat in the room.
I have, more than once, changed one bulb in a multi bulb fixture to LED with the intent to switch the others over when they burn out and the LED bulb burns out first.
