Subject: website of the week

Hello, Nick.

*Upon visiting the Website of the Week page at www.nachi.org/websites.htm](http://www.nachi.org/websites.htm) , *I was honored by having one of my sites win on March 26, 2006. I have recently launched a new site for another inspector and will encourage him to submit his site, if you are still accepting entries.

(By the way, I think the NACHI site is very well organized and informative.)

Thank you.

Deborah

*Nick, I have to tell you that some of the people in your organization continue to impress me. One of the reasons is because of how well they understand marketing. *

Subject: Business has been sold, #NACHI05011682

I have sold my inspection business. I appreciated the professional treatment NACHI offered while in business. If I return to inspecttion in the future I will not hesitate to re-apply for membership at that time. Great organization!!

Thanks!

I like getting them also. Here is one that I received…

July 5, 2006

From: J. Pina, Farmingdale, NY
To: ASKUS Consulting, Middleburg, NY (Tom Valosin)

Tom,

I would like to extend a few words of appreciation to you and your company. After an Internet search, I discovered that only commercial inspectors could handle the 11 unit apartment complex I needed to have inspected. I selected your company because of your affiliation with NACHI, your status as a NYS licensed home inspector, and after speaking with you on the phone, I felt you had the experience to tackle this job.

Your 9 hour inspection uncovered that this property had been poorly maintained, and had multiple, severe, flaws including structual, water and possibly environmental damage. There were issues with the electrical and plumbing systems that the casual inspection would not have uncovered.

Your meticulously thorough inspection was evident in the 55 page comprehensive report that included detailed photographs with arrows and graphics. Your honesty and integrity is apparent when supported by such images.

In addition, I very much appreciate that the report is easily accessible via the Web. Having the report in digital form was especially helpful in obtaining additional consultations. I could just send contractors a link and we could discuss the property immediately.

To sum up, your inspection saved me tens of thousands of dollars in repairs, but most of all saved me from getting myself in over my head in a property that could have broken me financially.

Your fee was worth every penny and I WILL, use your services again. Thank you very much and keep up the excellent work!

Very sincerely,

/s/ J. Pina

And here -

– I want more info on your membership benefits , specifically concerning E&O insurance. I was told by another inspector that you could save us considerably over what we are paying to FREA.
Please contact me via email or cell, also with Alabama chapter contact information. I am a former board member with NAHI Alabama but didn’t really seem to get anything from them they were a little to unorganized. I’m looking for something better.

Richard K Taylor
Taylor Home Inspection Services Inc.

Richard, I’m happy to provide this info to you!

Here’s a few links with some answers:
http://www.nachi.org/allicensing.htm

NACHI members can get a sizeable discount for E&O:
http://www.nachi.org/eo.htm
http://www.nachi.org/membership.htm

I had $250 k E&O, with 2500 deductible, cost me over 3k a year.
Now I have 500k with a 5k ded BECAUSE I also have ADRS (http://www.nachi.org/adrs) as my front door for only $90 a year. My premium now is $1800 a year. Big savings, & well worth the membership!

Let me know how it all works out, & please let me know if I can help you any further.

Another NAHI Board member wakes up.

www.nachi.org/whats_new.htm Bigger, better, faster, smarter.

I could just about make a form letter for replying to these types of requests, from all over . . .

I don’t see any way for NAHI to stop their hemorrhaging either.

Hi to all,

I too love getting emails like this:

It is realy nice to know that the educational stuff that I produce is helpfull and relevant to home inpsectors.

BTW, the NACHI online education system passed something of a milestone over the weekend as a member completed the 3,000th course. In round numbers the classes have been completed:

  • Roofing 1800 times
  • Electrical 800 times
  • Standards of practice 600 times
This means that NACHI education has delivered 12,000 hours of CE in the past year, and I have another course comming out this month.

Regards

Gerry

Awesome GERRY…most certainly a dedicated man…

Gerry, I get at least an email a day complimenting us on the courses you have developed.

Your online courses alone have provided over 12,000 CE hours to NACHI members for a grand total cost of $0 to the membership. That calculates out to a cost of $0.00/CE hour (for you slower inspectors in Des Plaines  )

I’m so looking forward to the free online Plumbing Inspection course you are developing for NACHI.

Working on a Thermal Imaging for Home Inspectors course. Using PowerPoint. What format works best for posting it on the NACHI board and using it for an on-line course?

If the requirements are developed and posted (or sent), I am sure you would get many more courses for the board.

Hope this helps.

Will, it is best you contact Chris Morrell. He custom built NACHI’s online education system where any member can build a course. So cool.

Dear Nick, *
I am a education junkie and man do I love NACHI!!

Out of how many members? Am I not reading this correctly?

Time to Renew Your Home Inspector License - Continuing Education

Please take the time to read this important Email in its entirety.

Dear Home Inspector,

Does the following definition apply to you?

procrastinate
Etymology: Latin procrastinatus, past participle of procrastinare, from pro- forward + crastinus of tomorrow, from cras tomorrow
transitive verb : to put off intentionally and habitually
intransitive verb : to put off intentionally the doing of something that should be done

Just a reminder, August is just around the corner and the deadline for this year’s Continuing Education for your Home Inspector license renewal is September 10th. As your Home Inspector License is a valuable asset, the licensing requirements may be changing you do not want to loose your license. Obtaining it again down the road may be costly and time consuming.

*As most of you know, Carolina Educational Seminars is always on the cutting edge of industry developments. We challenge ideas, not people, and this year’s offerings, as always, are for the serious minded Home Inspector. Below are the remaining dates and locations for our CE Seminars. We have limited seating and before you renew your membership in the larger of the two state Home Inspector advocacy groups, we urge you to come to the seminars and listen to why we believe NACHI is the best bet for NC Home Inspectors. By the way, have you received any emails or communications from this organization about NCHILB Board meetings or realtors asking for E & O Insurance? I have, and the article by Andy Patron is hogwash. Up until now I have refrained form making any comments about Andy’s tenure at Carolina Educational Seminars, but it behooves me to set the record straight. – Andy performed about 100 +/- inspections in the two years prior to becoming director and when he worked for us at Carolina Educational Seminars did not want to teach the Field Training because he was afraid of performing inspections and the possibility of having a complaint field against him. Once again the NCLIHA is promoting dramatics and horse manure! *

In fact, Andy telephoned me two weeks ago and left a message wanting to know what was going on up at the NCHILB. I do not return telephone calls from less than honorable people who believe that the end justifies the means. It seems to me all the NCHLIA wants is to take your CE Fee and roll along without providing leadership. One of our CE Courses, Problems of Inspection Knowledge deals with why you need to review your inspection methods and report writing. We wrote this course because of all the misinformation put forth by others.

We at Carolina Educational Seminars do not look at the national level, we look at NC. This is where we live, eat, sleep and earn our living!
To this end we also ask you to please ignore all of the vicious innuendo, slander and horse manure being spread by those who are opposed or are being replaced by NACHI. We care about NC Home Inspectors and we firmly believe it is the best bet and the future for NC Home Inspectors is NACHI www.nachi.org](http://www.nachi.org/forum/) besides the tremendous Internet presence, which will enhance your business, NACHI is about benefits and action. We urge you to please listen with an open mind, explore the options and then make your choice.

We have no fiduciary interest in NACHI, nor do we receive any compensation from NACHI. What we do, is because we care. For the record, even though financially our Guardian Residential Inspection Program would benefit from a Standardized report, WE ARE OPPOSED to the dictating and control of our industry by realtors! We are categorically opposed to a Standardized Report and we do our best to see that it goes the way of the Edsel.

*We urge you to please listen with an open mind, explore the options and then make your choice. Register with us and find out why Realtors are asking for E & O Insurance and how to respond, what is happening at the NCHILB and how to deal with Liability Exposure. Absolutely nobody falls asleep at our seminars; they are also known as the George and Darryl show! Yes, our fee is more than any other course provider, because we offer superior Continuing Education Courses, excellent instructors and limited seating. We are not the inspector down the road who charges $175.00 and does a lousy 1 hour inspection. *

Seating is limited so now is the time to get registered…For more information please visit our Web Page www.homeinsp.com](http://www.nachi.org/forum/) we have fast and convenient online registration and secure PayPal payment. (Which I may add, millions of people all over the world use daily)

Seating is on a first registered, first paid basis so let’s get with it inspectors – get registered - Now! Please do not procrastinate.

For those of you who never had the pleasure of attending one of our seminars, please know, our seminars are an official “NO WHINING ZONE” so if you want to bitch, moan and complain then please register with another course provider, or see a therapist. We will stimulate you and you will come away a more aware and better informed inspector.

Thank you for your time and attention,

Dear Lisa, August 8, 2006

  • I gave my presentation today and I must say it went very well. I got asked to come back and someone in attendance asked me if I would give another presentation to her group. Will Decker sent me his powerpoint presentation and that was a life saver for me. I made a few changes and I was in business. Their was very few brochures left on the tables afterwards (3 deadly Mistakes) and my card was in every one of them. And yes I leaned on NACHI through the whole presentation. I cannot thank you all enough and it’s a pleasure having NACHI on my side. There are only four NACHI members here in EL Paso…*
  • Please forward this to Nick, I want him to know what a good job you are doing. And it was a pleasure talking to you on the phone Lisa.*
  • Thanks again*

  • Tommy Utterback*

  • EL Paso, Texas*

Subject: Two Weeks of NACHI

Remember our short conversations… I said I would give it a try…

Love it, love it, love it, love it!

NACHI is wonderful!

*You were right when you said that it was less about NACHI than the home **inspector–ok, you didn’t say those words, but the point was that “other **associations” don’t really do much for their inspectors. I have been very **pleased with the services so far and definately find that it is worth the **time and money. I am also very pleased with the web presence that NACHI *gives their members.

*TODAY I got my first inspection through NACHI! I was sent a request via **email from somebody who did a search, found the local page of “find an **inspector” and wrote me. I am doing her inspection at the end of the *week.

I am very happy to be a member of NACHI! Thanks Nick!
