Subject: Kingston Seminar

Greetings,

With some disappointment we must advise that the seminar is cancelled. We had 18 registrants…a sad example of the lack of desire that the home inspection industry has to upgrade and learn about the building technology advancements they will face in the very near future. The solar industry and the MIcro-FIT program is so successful that they are not processing anymore applications until Spring 2011. Is the same old…’’‘we don’t inspect these’’ disclaimer going to fill the report when the H.I.'s hits a home with thermal solar, PV solar, electric source solar, grey water, reclaimed water or homes with the new 2 stage/modulating gas furnaces and SEER 18 heat pumps for example, these homes are not rare anymore. The last I heard from OPA was that the 100,000 homes they expect to have a PV system installed on will likely happen far sooner than the 3-5 years they expected. How many times will they get to talk ‘‘one on one’’ with Master/Class One Tech’s who know these new systems…we had 8, that’s right eight of these pros lined up to show all of these systems, on site and operational where they could see and touch them as they say.
The ‘‘Greenhouse Certified’’ program is the next step after EnergyStar. We have this project being built and two more clients who we are working thru for new homes have ‘‘demanded’’ this level of energy efficiency, has anybody checked their hydro bill lately!!. This townhouse project is the very ‘‘first’’ in Ontario. See next months Canadian Home Builder Magazine where they selected the top projects in each province to do a small article on, guess who the one from Ontario is!
One of the gentlemen who registered called me earlier today and was very disappointed in the cancellation. As he said… if this home inspection industry keeps it head in the sand and does not progress in knowledge it will become even an further laughing stock around the real estate world…there is not much more to say here.

Regards
Cam

Bill,do not feel bad, today inspectors have many avenues they can attended,I did attend last year and it was worth while, please do not give up,and if I can help in any way ,let me know.
