Wrong is wrong and in you case uninformed.
Guess I will be sending back my HVAC qualifications earned over a five year apprenticeship. Nah, I’ll just keep it.
Do what you must.
Bad advice is bad advice.
Can you explain why your advice on any subject any topic is always correct and the whole world is wrong:roll:
I’m sure it’s not.
Do you have an opinion on the subject at hand.
Why is it that HVAC techs have an attitude?
I am a mild manner dude with very little attitude but I would say you are the kettle calling the pot black.
Just go review your past post on any subject your always right and everyone else is wrong regardless;-)
About 95 percent are crap or will soon to be crap attached to the furnace it is waste of money. you be better of with a portable . If needed
You have still offered no opinion on the subject.
Why is that?
I did not comment earlier because my opinion is and was both of you were correct in your own opinions and that is what they are just opinions based on what ever ones experience is with humidifiers.
My thoughts are why you can not respect another persons opinion
My issue was not his opinion.
My issue with him is his blanket recommendation to remove any humidifiers.
I prefer to educate my client on proper use and maintenance not give him orders to abandoned something that can be of benefit.
I did not see anyone telling you not to educate your clients but why do you care what he tells his clients. A inspection report does not or should not contain orders I prefer recommendations to clients not orders some people just don’t take orders very well.
Over the years I have recommended removal of humidifiers and also have recommend they be installed depending on the situation. There have been occasions where Doctors have written patients subscriptions to install humidifiers so insurance could possibly pay for the installation. There are not blanket rules yours or his
It’s simply bad advice to be telling clients to remove functioning systems.
Some humidifiers should be removed but not all of them.
I agree why did you not say that to begin with;-)
I know that some of the old humidifiers that held standing water which turned into little cesspools gave humidifiers a bad name and for good reason because those really were crap.
Both the Aprilaire and the General bypass type humidifiers are “self cleaning” with no standing water.
Although they do need to be serviced at the beginning of each heating season mainly to have the evaporator pads replaced, many people do not have that done, mostly because they are uneducated on the subject I suppose, either that or they just don’t care maybe.
Maybe it depends on the area location but generally maintaining a proper indoor retaliative humidity level makes for a more comfortable living area with a lower thermostat setting plus other benefits such as no dry throat and no getting shocked by static electricity every time something or someone is touched.
I always had a talk with the homeowner with every humidifier install or service to make them understand how to operate and maintain the equipment because as was said, they are not a set and forget deal.
I think maybe that the humidifier haters are probably just folks that do not know the benefits of a good humidifier are well worth their cost.
