Todd just commenting on what was written earlier.
Hate to burden my clients with any reading, don’t you know.
Hmmm, not bad.
From the HG sample, really to protect the car.
LMAO
And thats a sample from the producers of HG.
I havent had a chance to read that far.
Thank you.
Brian, I’m sure the Homegauge statements need to be worked on too. I haven’t really done in depth research on the program. There are issues with all of them, but I’m just tired of the fawning over Inspectvue. It’s not a terrible system by any means, but it’s not all that either. If you want college educated, intelligent people to see your report as professional you will have to spend MANY hours editing. As to the general and section narratives, the wordiness and lack of specificity to their report will make peoples eyes glaze over and they will not read the parts of the report they should read.
“My most important piece of advice to all you would-be writers: when you write, try to leave out all the parts readers skip.” Elmore Leonard.
With a good editor, Swift could say in a 10 page report what he now says in 25 pages.
Also, the tech support sucks. I’ve sent three emails and not gotten an answer in over a week.
A great new system (at first glance) is the Carson-Dunlop Horizon system, I may just write off the $900 and switch to that. It’s kind of expensive, $7 a report, but I’ll just consider it a part of my fee.
If I understood the sales rep right, HG provides a $50 discount for NACHI members… so price is around $800. But you need to buy the GOLD package to get upload and SW update capabilities which runs $30/month or $300 for a year. So, in essence, the HG software would be $1100 for the original purchase with an annual $300 cost of usage… (the Gold package also provides you with ability to setup online CC charge and online scheduling).
By the way, I have been on the phone with HG quite a bit during my research, and they are exceptionally responsive - I mentioned a couple modifications to report style 3 I was interested in, the tech said no problem, they would modify and have a new template available that day if I wanted to proceed. I was impressed, but since I have not purchased the software yet, figured it wasn’t too nice of me to have them coding on my behalf!

Inspectvue, very user friendly. Print on site form my laptop. Very easy to change any of the narratives to suit your particular needs.
By the way Brian, do you edit or add narratives on your PDA or take extra notes and then edit on your laptop after switching the sd card? Either way it’s a pain.
Most of the narratives have to be rewritten depending on where you live…unless you live in the backyard of the software company…right Jeff?
I think it is a Ford / Chevy thing…go with the company that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside…and then figure out why they make you feel that way and apply it to your company climate… to make people feel warm/fuzzy about you.

Neither, I have templates for various houses. The template is set up so the house is perfect. I edit the discrepancies as I get to them on my laptop, set up in the kitchen.
I stoped taking notes and take pictures instead. I usually edit after a section or two or a room or two. It is not hard to remember the garage defects on the loooong walk to the kitchen.
Remember at heart Inspectvue is a checklist disguised as a narrative reporting system- (To paraphrase Doug Edwards)

I’ve been a user of HomeGauge since last July. I love it, and they keep making it better and better.
I tried demos of every software I could find before getting HomeGauge. I highly recommend it. It covers your assets without being too wordy, and you can customize it however you wish.
Russell is also coming out with a NACHI SOP version!!
I really like HomeGauge also…I’m sure the other software may be just as good but I really despise PDF files.
I really like my reports uploaded to their website…easy to navigate…and Great People there. When you call its like talking to your best friend…they will do anything to help or change things which people may not like.
They are always asking the users for suggestions about the software, kind of like a big happy family. I really like it a lot.
I did not want to get into this fray, but as they say “You ain’t seen nothing yet.” I will not tell you all of the things that our new version of InspectVue Mobile will do, but no one, for years will be able to accomplish what you will we be able to do with our next generation of InspectVue Mobile. It will be worth the wait.

Just tell us…who knows, perhaps some of us can be swayed…
I guess Lorne did not agree with the poll results.
As important as the reporting system itself, is the customer service and tech support Lorne.
My personal experience is the Inspectvue tech support is better than most. James if an email does not work call them. Heck call me, I can probably point out some short cuts. 480-205-1103:D
Bought an Axim tuesday and am playing with it and the software.
