InterNACHI's Ben Gromicko presented at U.S. Dept of Energy webinar

InterNACHI Director of Education Ben Gromicko presented at a Better Buildings Neighborhood Program webinar hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy on Thursday, February 28, 2013, to discuss “Working with Real Estate Home Inspectors, Exterminators, and other “Non-traditional” Partners.” The webinar focused on ways that programs across the country can leverage real estate transactions and various aspects of home improvement to identify energy efficiency opportunities and encourage upgrades.

Gromicko demonstrated how numerous programs funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (http://www1.eere.energy.gov/buildings/betterbuildings/neighborhoods/partners.html) could be much more successful in their efforts in educating homeowners about home energy issues by partnering with InterNACHI, whose members provide Home Energy Reports™ to their clients.

The InterNACHI Home Energy Report™ provides a homebuyer a quick understanding of how much a home costs to:

  • heat,
  • cool, and
  • operate prior to moving in.

Empowered by that information, the homebuyer can now:

  • contact their utility company to request service at their new home; and
  • ask their utility smart questions about how to save money by saving energy, including local energy rebates and incentives.

No other inspection association was asked to present other than InterNACHI. No other association attended.
