Is this mold on this wood beam if so how bad does it look?

Not a certified mold inspector, but I have indications that this seems to be mold. The wood has deteriorated losing its shape slowly. Was not able to confirm moistness with moisture meter.

Welcome to our forum, Alijah!

It looks like wood wane to me, if that is what you are referring to.

Why not? It looks like you entered the attic well enough and taking a moisture measurement is an important part of deciding “How bad it is”.

You can’t confirm mold without proper testing from a laboratory.

Lol you right I was inspecting someone in my family’s house and they didn’t want me walking deep into the attic I convinced to let me do the wind mitigation this is a mock inspection for practice they are only in that house renting for 4 more months. Ima ask them to go back today so I can walk up and confirm with one.

I will look into what wood wane is thank you

Yes I know that’s true I was just wondering if it may have looked like it and was showing signs of it

I’ll get up closer and show you a better pic so you can see more how bad it is

Your web presence?:

Are you a “Certified Master Inspector”?

(This is the 3rd time the “system” has removed my link. :man_shrugging:)

So, here it is as a screenshot, too.:

Alijah, welcome.

Be sure to focus on terminology as you move along your training. I do not see a wood beam in your photo. What you have there is an engineered roof truss system.

I agree.

What you mean by web presence? And I’m a certified professional inspector and also licensed through the state.

Haha ok lol

That’s not my website that’s old. I haven’t updated my profile on here with the updated website and company information

Your website indicates you are a “Certified Master Inspector”:

I found you on the web using your name.

I agree. Terminology is very important. My apologies for the mistake I thought it was a wood beam since it was supporting the roof sheathing. I thought that was a part of a the component of a Engineered roof truss system. I will rennet that though cause I see what your talking about thanks

Like I said that’s old I was just playing a lot with the website builder to practice. that’s not a website I use at all it’s not a real company it just was for practice so disregard everything their

Regardless whether you use it or not, it works to contact you AND you might want to correct the MIS-INFORMATION on it regarding you being a “Certified Master Inspector”.
