I had two of these in my house, and Kidde was really easy to deal with for the recall. They’re sending me two replacement units.

Interesting thing is there are links in google search to previous issues with this same model not sounding when a smoke or CO issue was present as well.
I agree with Michael, Kiddie has been easy to deal with in my opinion. I purchased 5 detectors for my home about 3 years ago. All but one would start chirping after about 1 month for low batteries. Replaced once and when started again I contacted them. 2 days later I had 5 new detectors and a label to return to originals for their review.
