Hi

When I am cooking something on the stove like

even just boiling water , the smoke does not

go into the vent system to well. It seems to

go around the venting unit. I notice the fan

only opens up about 1 inch on both sides of the

fan[ one fan that is held together in the middle and

opens up on the right and left side].

The fan spins , it draws air but bad venting

Should the blades open up completly or is there

someone that can give me an idea Why?

Recirculating fan or exterior venting? Is is the exhaust system overhead or downdraft? If its exterior venting, does is vent to the exterior? Or terminate in an attic area under insulation? If its exterior is the stack blocked? Or blocked at the damper if its through the wall? Does is have screens or filters?

As for blades, fan blades are fixed and shouldn't move. What blades are you talking about?

The venting terminates to exterior from kitchen hood. Looking at the

vent from the inside there is a filter, a motor and a fan , and a round metal

vent that flaps open to let the exhaust fumes out . The flaps only open

partially though , but i cleaned any grease around it but still does it… When the fan is on it pushes the flaps open . I hope this helps
