Good pictures , I agree and expect 99.9 % of the electricians agree Knob and tube needs immediate replacement …

I was trying to be kinder lol but your right Charlie

Of course they do, they’re like realtors… if they don’t replace it, they don’t get paid! :p:twisted::mrgreen:

They Recommend Repair Just the same as most Homies do , to save lives … Roy

This string is an example I do not see many who say Knob and tube is OK .

No evidence that knob and tube wiring covered by insulation has caused any fires.

I thought you would like to know.

And yes I would call it out as a defect.

Michael.
Question if you moved into another home and it Had Knob and Tube would you not upgrade the wireing… Roy

This is not about what I would do Roy and you have not shown a fire caused by properly installed and maintained Knob and tube.

Read what you posted.

Sort of expected that .
You do not think sprinklers are needed in Homes and hard hats not needed on motorcycles .
Do you now put on your seat belts in the car or do you still leave them off.
Most people like the modern life saving ideas and equipment .

I think Darwin had some sort of an answer for people like you .
Thanks Michael .

**Sample Report on K&T with NO visible damage:

**Knob & Tube wiring was noted at some locations in the building. Although commonly used in the past, and accepted or grand-fathered by most national and local electrical codes, most electrical systems using this in our area are well over 60 years old. Due to its age; its tendency to become brittle with age; and the fact that it has likely been added onto several times by various trades people over the years (often not properly), Some insurance companies or lenders will not choose to accept it, and may require upgrading or replacing this type of wiring. We recommend that the buyer VERIFY acceptability and insurability with your insurance company and lender prior to closing escrow. Also due to its age we recommend having a licensed and competent electrician examine the wiring system and components for safety, unreliable conditions, etc prior to closing. If deficiencies are discovered repair or replace as needed.

Just maybe you can not find a fire related from K&T would be filed as faulty wiring as cause . Can anyone prove there has not been one ? Just saying

Btw
