OK
I'm not sure if this is the place to post this message but here goes.
I want to start up my business but need help. I am thinking an LLC is the best way for me to go. I contacted an Attorney today about it and the fee is $560.00. After talking to a couple of people, it seems like something I may be able to do on my own. Can anyone here offer me any advice on doing this? I guess I'm looking for kind of a step by step reply.
Thanks

Ditto what Gary said. I suppose the process varies from state to state, but to me, it sure wasn’t worth paying an attorney several hundred dollars to file simple paperwork.

Randy,
Your post is out of place and completely unnecessary.
I would expect the opinions of others, without name calling, to be welcome in this forum.
I'm sure rpeirson's post is not the general opinion of those in charge of NACHI. Up to this point I have been considering joining NACHI but I need to know your type of post is not acceptable.
As far as ASHI goes, where did you get the idea I wanted to join that organization?

I would have to say that Randys post is way out of line with the thoughts and direction that NACHI stands for. NACHI is not about singling out people because of organizations. We are about HIs helping HIs to get better in this business. Unfortunately this is what we get sometimes with an unmoderated board.
I am always willing to help anyone, no matter whether they are a member or not. That is part of the reason why this board is open to all.

Vince, I agree his name calling is unnecessary, but it will not be deleted, unless he does. NACHI is free and open to all, and completely unmoderated (not always to my liking). Even non-member posts will not be deleted. And you shouldn’t compare member thoughts to leaders ones. His thoughts are his thoughts, as yours are yours. Some discretion is encouraged though in my humble opinion.

Vince,
I do not agree with a lot of posts on this board and you can be sure a lot of people disagree with mine I belive that the powers that be deem all posts acceptable and do not delete any.
Only Nick and the person who posted can delete or so I have been told.

I got ya.
I didn't mean to sound like I was comparing his thoughts to anyone else I just wanted to be sure his type of post was not considered well accpeted in general.

Another point I think amny are forgetting these days. With NACHI’s growth there seems to be a lot of non-member posts. We should not assume that all of these (even those with many posts) are spies, or don’t want to join, or whatever. Many, like a few electricians and some partners of the Safe House Campaign, have come in lately as non-memebers. Their input and participation is encouraged, and needed. They do not have to join. For those that are inspectors, and thinking it over, let them. It took me a while to decide.

Part of the beauty of NACHI is that these posts, although disenchanting, are "acceptable."
For the most part, this board is not moderated. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, unfortunately, some people are offended in the process. We can only hope that we can get past the "school yard" name calling and move on to constructive conversations that may assist us in our appearance as professionals.

One of the things you will find like any room with lots of people, are personality conflicts. It happens.
No word yet on my suggestion of a boxing ring at the convention in January to settle some of those "personality conflicts"

Actually I’m 33 so back in the day is not so long ago.

I have learned as a new inspector that the most important thing you can do is not to rush into it. Make sure you know what you are doing before just going out and completing an inspection. I have wanted to just go and do it so I can start to make money. This of course would be a huge mistake because I would be doing a disservice to my client and myself.
Be patient, this won't happen overnight. Someone said to me realizing what you don't know is just as important as what you do know.
