Hi. guys;
Hope you are all well this weekend.
Very nice of you to honor this special weekend.
My own son just came back from Iraq after a 1 year tour as a Combat Medic. I can just pray to God for having him back in Texas were he is allot safer. He is due to get out of the Army at the end of June. His four years were up in January.
He received the Bronze Star of Valor on his tour and very proud of him, due the fact, I know what he had to do to acquire this award.
I pray for all parents that have their own sons, and daughters in the war, that they can come back also. It is also prudent to pay respect to the sons and daughters of previous wars and would wish all their families my most sincere condolences for the ones that did not make it, and wish my best respect to the one's that did.

Marcel-
When you speak to your son, please let him know that we appreciate his service. My son is due to go to Iraq in Oct. He is currently stationed in Oklahoma. I'm glad your boy is back safely.

No matter what our positions on the president’s decision to be in Iraq at this time, I never waver in my support and gratitude for those of you who are serving our country here and overseas.

Marcel,
This is indeed a special memorial day for your son and your family. My personal gratitude to your son for his commitment to God, Country, and Family. Welcome him back for us. Give him a good hug and a hearty handshake for me.

Thank you very much for your consideration.
It is appreciated.

I envy you, Marcel. My youngest son is with Special Forces in Afghanistan, right now. He spent a year in Iraq and was home (actually in Italy) long enough to see his daughter come in to the world on Feb 18. On March 15, he left Italy and went to Afghanistan where he has seen quite a bit of action. He will return in March 2006 for a little while, then it's back to Iraq for a year in December 2006.
I seem to remember more time between tours during the Viet Nam era.

It’s a glorious day in the free world! Many thanks to those past, present and future. Thanks to those that paid the highest price for freedom. I am also thankful for those in society that contribute in ways I can’t even fathom.

As a veteran, I appreciate all the kind words and thanks offered here on this thread. If anyone really wants to do something for those in harm’s way go to www.anysoldier.com where you can find ways to really do something vitally important and heartwarming for our people on the other side of the pond, not just today but every day. They need our encouragement because the American media isn’t telling the true stories of all the good our folks are doing. They are performing magnificantly and they are doing it 24/7. Some are lonely and any word from home, even from a total stranger is cherished.
Everyone have a wonderful Memorial Day and remember what it costs.

Hi. James;
Thanks for information on your part, and I hope you get to enjoy the fabulous times with your Granddaughter and hope she is well.
I also wish and hope your son survives these two tours in the part of the World where it seems they have no respect for human life, including their own.
I am curious as to why he is serving two tours of duty in Iraq? Did he chose this on his own? If he did, my hat is off to him and the many others that did the same. I wish him and yourself in either case the best of luck.
Hold tight and pray he will be safe, that is what I did, and it appears it worked.
These young kids out there are doing a fabulous job, that some people don't really understand. My son was 28 years old over there as a Combat Medic and most of the soldiers were calling him Old Man. Is't that unreal?
This is when you comprehend the true age of these Soldiers.

I'm not sure, either, Marcel. His first tour was with the 82nd Airborne. After returning from Iraq, he went to Italy to be with the 175th Airborne, just in time to join them in their tour to Afghanistan. They return in March to go to Iraq in December. Like I said, the rotation seems to move faster than it did for me when I served. These guys don't spend much time at home at all, anymore.

Hi. James;
I guess, I do not understand the Government Protocol in this area. My son was sent home from Iraq after six months of duty over there, and went back and finished his 13 month tour, which was three months over his four year enlistment.
Hope your son well.
