Regarding the use of the plastic panel covers. I recently saw (heard) an episode of “This Old House” where the entire box was a type of heavy duty polymer. The electrician that was being bothered, i mean interviewed, at the time really seemed to like working with it in that every thing was set up real “electrician friendly.” Sorry i wasn’t able to get more information on it as i was busy at the time and it was background noise.


I do remember that many of the exposed parts we see in the typical metal service equipment were protected. (bus bars, etc.) Every thing just sort of plugged in through plastic. It was just this past weekend in the a.m., i believe. When it was filmed, i don’t know. Whether cost or some other “findings” have come to light since it was first used came into play, i don’t know, but i’ve never seen one “in real life”.
