It’s better already. I think I may have too much adware - spyware carp in my hard drive. That stuff is almost as bad as any virus. The anti-spyware I have is worthless.

I am finding that AOL seems to have done something with their built in firewall that isn’t compatable with alot of other adware and spyware. Any thoughts? It gives me a hard time when I try to down load any adware blocks.

Larry,
I'm sure I'll get some flak for this but I would recommend ditching AOL as fast as possible. The amount of "helpful" programs and info-gathering bots AOL puts on your computer is bad enough but I can almost guarantee you your missing legit messages and I'm guessing you have difficulty downloading pictures, too? I bailed on AOL years ago and I know its improved but there are a lot of other viable providers that aren't so busy playing big brother and messing with your system. Earthlink is a pretty good one and they have a high speed option. A better option is to just look in the yellow pages and call a local provider - 90% of the time their customer service is outstanding and they'll usually send someone out to set you up. Plus they can help you get your own company domain name, etc and it should only cost about $200 a year.
I, too, would highly recommend Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware, both are free (although there is a place to donate on SS&D and I do).
