YORK**:(Unitary Products since 1984)
Fraser, Johnstonand Luxaire** were purchased by York in 1980.
(Borg-Warner) (Unitary)
Third letter in Serial Number (If two numbers – use either and look for ANSI date)
Fourth number - specifies fourth digit of year of manufacture.
When there are three or four letters at the start, the third letter is the year. Y is 1991, A is 1992, etc.
Web site with more info. On York http://www.brewsterhomeinspections.com/reports/york.pdf](http://www.brewsterhomeinspections.com/reports/york.pdf)
I have absolutely no info for the Carrier. That “X” seems to be the bug…
Thanks very much, Jae.
Carrier, Bryant, Payne, Day & Night: Recently (last 20 years or so) the first four numbers in the serial number represent the week and year. Previously, it was a complex series of letters and single digits. Call 905 672-0860 if you get stuck.
