A simple logo is easier to work with in the long run. The reason that more modern logos tend to be minimal is to prevent a company from having to deal with print issues down the road. The more color that you add to a logo, the more expensive it can be to print a full-color shirt. The same issue applies to embroidery. Since embroidery is an image stitched with thread there are limitations on the amount of detail that can accurately be recreated. Some effects that can be generated in a program cannot be recreated with T-shirt printing or embroidery so it is important to have an effective and legible single-color version of the logo.
This is not to say that a more elaborate logo is a bad logo design. It’s just that you will end up having to resolve printing issues with creative workarounds or a single-color version of the logo. It also means that you will probably need to find a website builder with a larger space set aside for the logo. A slightly more elaborate logo can be effective, it just requires more planning, so it is good to think through the ways that you intend to use the logo early in the design process. We can always help think through the process with you if you have questions.
I wouldn’t buy a home without an inspection, so why try to set up a design all on your own without professional support?
