NFPA 70B reporting

I have been getting calls to perform infrared inspections on electrical equipment. I am unsure what the client needs regarding reporting; in most cases, the client does not either. This is a new requirement and I am trying to make sure I provide a great service. Any advice is appreciated.

Do you own a suitable Thermal Camera for Industrial work?
Are you a Level II Thermographer or higher?
Do you carry a ‘boatload’ of insurance?
What’s your experience with Thermography and Inspecting?

Get properly educated with infrared thermography. Get an adequate imager. Get properly covered. Have fun.

What electrical equipment? That is a very broad category. If you can identify this you may receive better answers.

Then your client needs to hire someone who does know.
You could perhaps ask to tag along, or act as an owner’s rep, to start seeing the process.

Insurance companies are requiring these and what is required is determined by each individual insurance companies. I have been doing jobs and providing quotes for some companies that only need their electrical panels done to a large local newspaper company that their insurance company wanted all of their electrical panels done (over 130) along with any motorized systems (also over 100 units) and their printing tanks, which are three stories high. Generally, anything that could shut down production and cause major headaches.
