I do inspections part time, work for an HVAC company full time.
Got a call yesterday from a first time home owner, she just moved in last week. Yes, she did say there was a home inspection.
Here is the problem, the house has a new boiler (5 years old) and a working fireplace, the kicker, only one flue. No, there is no power venter.
Today she was going to call the inspector, a zoning/codes officer and her lawyer. Lucky for her she had a chimney guy come in to clean the chimney and he found this problem.
I did not ask who inspected the house but I hope the inspector is not a friend, a NACHI menber or even someone I know. This is not the first time I have seen this.
Be careful folks when checking the HVAC systems and houses with working firplaces. If your weak in HVAC check out classes from your local community college.
