Open Ground?

I just want to put a question out there. I found something that I feel is strange. Here’s the setting:

In home with electric cable heat, temperature control in each room. I found a problem with an "open ground" on each electrical outlet that shares the same wall as the temp. control. Only the outlet on the same wall had this problem, the other two or three outlets in the room(s) tested 'normal'.

What would cause this problem? Is this something that should be considered a 'hazard'? What would the fix be in this situation? Any help, suggestions, and/or wisdom from the profession would be greatly appreciated.

I would think about the type of tester you are using and its response to a ground that may have some current flowing. This problem current will also show a voltage potential to the tester and probably result in a “no ground reading”
