Hi to all,

I agreewith you John, it looks way too much like the kind of product class action suits are made of, and you just know that it is not going to get properly caulked and sealed.

Regards

Gerry

I’ve seen quite a bit of this product around here over the past few years. Mostly on portable type sheds or outbuildings. Usually not on a house.

I suspect if its kept caulked and sealed and about 8 ft. ( just kidding) off the ground, it could last for several years! I think its simular to the old Abitibi type masonite siding. Keep the mositure away from it, and it last quite a while. Doesn’t show much for quaility though. icon_sad.gif

I did a house last week with that type of siding (on a 450k house…)

There was actually brick AND wood AND this crap. House is 6 years old and showing severe signs of water penetratation only in areas this stuff was used. Caulking is shot and its like having a million little funnels bringing in the rain…I had to defect all areas this stuff was hung and sellers were not happy…(Sorry I’m only able to call 'em as I see’s 'em)

I think it would be OK if you were willing to caulk and seal it yearly but that kinda defeats the whole low-maintainence thing, huh ![eusa_shifty.gif](upload://rN4l1OcK3R92kuugwdpBnZUyCsg.gif)

I hear if you install it on battens (for air space) and back prime it, it’s fairly stable. Of course this particular builder did none of that.
