Hi to all,

John, what is the roofing material in the first picture ? or on second thoughts what is the siding material, it looks like a metal or vinyl faux shake.

Regards

Gerry

Hi Gerry,

Roof covering material was rolled asphalt. It looked pretty good actually with no evidence of current moisture intrusion into the structure.

The siding material is compressed wood crap. You're right on about the faux part. Looks a lot like shake shingles.

Looks like to me that it is just a matter of time before they will have a new shower in the house. I once had a friend who had a similiar problem with his roof. I kept teling him he should do something before he had a problem. Well to make a long story short, he had a remodeling project he didn’t plan on. It was one of those “I told you so things” What did you state in your report?

This problem is probably easier to fix than most people think. There are three avenues to take. Two very expensive one moderatly expensive.

Fix the structure or build a sloped roof above the flat one. Install the new roofing with atapered insulation system. Install PVC membrane and not worry about the water.
