Plumbing vent configuration?

Hello, I have two questions. First, is there any issues with this plumbing vent configuration? It appears they did this to prevent sewage odor entering home since the swamp cooler is located right next to plumbing vent. Second question, shouldn’t the plumbing vent be further away from swamp cooler (evaporative cooler)?

I would call it out as an improper modification of the vent pipe.

As to the required distance from the swamp cooler, this may help. plumbing vent clearance from swamp cooler - Google Search

Improper because of vent cap, trap below vent cap and just dumb. The approved fix is way easier with less material.

It’s not the best way to do it but it probably works fine, especially if you are in an area that doesn’t freeze or get much snow.

If it smells like sewage in the house, yes.

As Lon said, this could trap water. It is improperly configured.

Damage to the shingle will increase over time. Wind is also an issue since it is not secured.

Looks like it will break off fairly easily. Strong wind or snow load. Ugly, wrong and stupid!
