I inspected this 2 story home over a year ago. He had a new macerating toilet put in at the lower level since then. He noticed staining on the interior ceilings in a few locations.
And called me. It was after the hurricane so I thought a shingle may have come loose and recommend a roofer.
Roofer took the pic attached.
As you can see the discharge is even over the vent by 3’.
The staining inside is likely being caused from the discharge hitting the top part of the vent boot and coming down the vent pipe.
From the look of his roof it does not appear to be an isolated event.
I asked about the size drain line that was put in and he said he thinks 3”. I am having a difficult time opening the installation manual due to internet issues, but I think 3 “ is ok for this saniflo access 3 toilet from Lowe’s.
The description says 17 gal a min at 15 feet , but I think they may be being conservative by the looks of his 2 story home.
I am not sure how the vent was tied in.
Anyone ever see this before?
LOL…LOL.
That is the craziest thing I have ever seen. Discharging a grinders effluence onto the roof.
LOL!!! A real sh-t show.
Lol I know. Crazy!
Good thing it’s a fairly low slope roof. Hate to start gagging and fall off of it.
As the saying goes…(Plumber)… “Call me now, or call me later… but it will cost extra”!!
Friggin’ DIY-ers!
Bet that roof is slicker than shit—or at least as slick!
I bet there’s another huge shlt show in the attic.
that’s what I am afraid of too. What could cause this a back up in the drain and nowhere for it to go then up? I guess the saying could be wrong cause sometimes IT goes uphill.
Two things…holy crap!
The other is that the vent boot is closed in too much. It’s supposed to be open to no less than one pipe diameter smaller.
I suspect the pipe is just clogged and the pump is just pumping it out the vent, energetically. Rather vigorous ejection of da poo poo.
I recommend scoping the vent and drain pipes to find the obstruction.
I’d recommend washing the roof first.
Since I’m a 14YO boy at heart, I’d love pouring that in the toilet and flushing until it blows the stack. It’d be quite entertaining. The upside? It’d de-stink the whole mess.
That’s what I told him I would do
WOW! That is hilarious!!!
So I heard back on this story and it is answers many questions.
When they had the macerated toilet installed , they hooked the venting and the sewer line up to a passive radon vent. The vents were of a lager diameter and should have been noticed but they were not marked at all as radon in the attic.
For a sewer line, they should have caught that part for sure.
Anyway one thing I learned from this is, that poop doesn’t always go down hill! An important take away!
