What is the maximum distance a 2 x 8 can span w/ no support (porch)? The porch is 13ft wide and supported only at the corners.

I don’t have the exact numbers but I know 13 ft is too much.
What was the spacing on the 2X8’s?
@ 12" o.c. = 14’2" max
@ 16" o.c. = 12’7" max
@ 24" o.c. = 10’3" max
These dimensions change slightly for the UBC.
Also how does the Troy building department factor in snow load in their load calculations? The local AHJ will be able to tell you as this will also help determine span size and lenghts.

Just remember that local jurisdictions can and do make more restrictive code regulations then the national code. Talking to your local code officer is always a good way to keep up on local requirements.
