I am not naive enough anymore to actually think my opinion will matter.
I have had nothing go my way regarding home inspector licensing or mitigation inspections yet.
At this stage of my life I just will try to complain until someone who can affect change hears and maybe they can do something about it.
I will play within whatever rules we end up with like I always have. It is not worth 1 day away from my family and missing 1 thing my daughter may do or need me for to go all the way there and pretty much be TOLD how it is going to be.

Take out total Foreign aid contributions to the rest of the world and divide it among everyone in our Country.
I would give an equal share to each Citizen that is a tax payer. That in turn would turn our Country back into a consumer based economy and likely make us a SUPERPOWER once again.
Cut them all off now and put every-dime back into our homeland.
Fix our house first then if things get better we can worry about the rest of the world.
When we go to war and win we should always take the spoils. To not do so is an insult to those who have paid the ultimate price. How about that one. That is how superpowers were created in the past. We should not have people die for us and them pay the people who we fought to fix up their crap. We should be getting oil at cost by now for all of the sacrifices of soldiers have made and we still get screwed. If I were president we would not get screwed by anyone and if they tried they would pay dearly.
I love my Country and those who fight and have fought for us and would take no crap from anyone PERIOD. My only concern would be for the welfare of “OUR” Country.

It is your right as an American to speak your opinion (right or wrong). That is why this meeting is open to the public. If all the inspectors spoke and all the homeowners spoke, it would make a difference. If a good showing would speak it would make a difference. The panel for the OIR wants to hear your voice because all they hear are the lawyers, lobbist and special interest groups. Get in the game and quit being a cheerleader.
I am much to wise to waist my time and do that instead of spending this very short existence with those I love at every opportunity.

The problem is we do not feel unified on our thoughts. There are those that will continue to give, give, give because they want to be in the insurance companies pockets.
It seems that a great many of my beliefs regarding most things are way outside the box most people seem to be in.
Inspectors as a whole may get what most of them want as they have been quite fortunate over the last couple of years due to great leaders fighting the good fight for them.
I on the other hand am sure things will not be going the direction that I feel they should therefore I will not waist my time and money by attending. I know without a majority my wishes are just a dream AND THAT IS DEMARCARCY. majority RULES. OH WELL IT IS THE RULES OF THE GAME.

Larry, Do you have a specific question regarding the 1802 we should poll? I think it is a great idea… but we would need to narrow down the question/topic don’t you think?
Why is that licensed contractor and engineer business owners can hire non licensed individuals to work for their companies to perform wind mitigation inspections while the licensed home inspector, architect, and building code official business owners can only hire licensed individuals to perform wind mitigation inspections as noted on the form? I understand that the OIR is charged with developing the rules in compliance with state statute (in this case FS627.711). Governmental agencies (like the OIR) are granted the authority to make rules to implement enforcement of Statutes promulgated by the legislature. Chapter 120 of the statutes grants these agencies the authority to make these rules (with limitations). Chapter 120 of the statutes does not give any governmental agency the authority to violate any other statutes in making a rule. With that said, the current language on the OIR Form B1 1802 that provides contractors and engineers an unfair market advantage over the lowly home inspector, architect, and code official would appear to violate the states “unfair Trade Practice Act” as noted in Florida Statute FS 501.204. Perhaps someone or multiple people could publicly ask the OIR to address this issue.

That situation is because of an exemption in the 489 licensing laws known as the Jim Walters" exemption. To change that we would have to change 489, past experience with this makes me believe its not a good idea.
Lets solicit opinions on each section, then we’ll have a feel for what to poll. We can then go with a position to promote as a group. Remember all the discussion about how we needed “one voice”. I don’t know that we have the time to arrive at a consensus be fore this meeting but we should try.
Either way we all know that when the new form comes out this board will be full of questions and complaints about it, but I still think we should try.
I am aware of 489. I have no problem with a licensee being responsible for his employees. What I do have a problem with is- a law or statute violating the unfair trade practice act. Giving contractors and engineers the ability to have unlicensed employees work for their companies and a much lower wage while denying that same right to licensed home inspectors, architects, and code official business owners provides an unfair market advantage to the contractor and engineer. My point being, if they can hire unlicensed individuals for their companies, the other licensed entities should be able to do the same. Otherwise, an unfair trade practice exists. It would appear that the unfair trade practice would violate the unfair trade practice act. -Just my opinion- I am not an attorney- just a spokesperson.

Oh boy, Nachi will have to update the Wind Mitigation Course now, I already paid for the course over 3 months ago, and I now have to re learn everything from scratch if they update the course so I can properly perform these inspections

I know it’s not a big deal, but I’m worry because now I have to hold on in performing Wind Mit inspection because if the OIR is going to change the form I will no longer be using the 1802 form and I don’t want any call back from clients complaining.
Yeah and I believe it was unfair that I had to purchase an additional license and pay to keep it active and follow additional continuing ed requirements.
If I can build them then I should damn well have been able to inspect them. Matter of fact the sTATE AGREES WITH MY QUALIFICATIONS BUT THEY STILL WANTed the xtra coin from forcing me to get an additional unneeded license. Now I have to also pay for insurance E/O that I do not want.

How about focusing your efforts on making the process better instead of holding others back and ******** that they have a make believe un fair advantage. How many different ways do you think you can slice up a wind mit fee?
All you look out for is Regular Home Inspectors and not the clients or anyone else.
I guess that is why you are in the position you are.
If I were not one of the others I may tend to agree but I am not and I never try to get ahead by telling Mommy or holding others back.
If you want the rights of a Professional with higher qualifications then go obtain that license. Quit trying to try to screw others just so you and your followers can get ahead.
