Public hearing on Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form

I am sorry but you are not worthy of any of my further energy.

Steve,

Russ and I discussed you points and agree with you. Larry is working on a poll so we can get more feedback before we go.

John, thanks. Let me know if I can help.

Steve,

I agree, its not fair practice. I was just explaining how it came about, but I agree it should be changed. However this meeting is on the 1082 form not licensing.

I agree. However, the form has language on it that perpetuates the unfair trade practice. I am asserting that the OIR does not have the authority under the Rulemaking process to violate any other statutes. Unfortunately, the OIR is in a catch 22. If they develop a rule and form to comply with FS 627.711, they may actually violate the unfair trade practice act. If the develop the form and removed the unfair trade practice, then they would not be consistent with the language in 627.711. The solution, I believe, is to allow ALL licensed entities enumerated in 627.711 to hire unlicensed individuals to work for their respective companies under the supervision of the license holder. This of course, would piss off the insurance industry lobby as they would prefer to limit who can do wind mits.

Yeah, great idea that will sure help raise prices! Why just not have do it yourself inspections? The homeowner can fill out the form take the pictures and send it to the underwriter.

Do you know what a wise man said once?

It is better to keep your mouth shut and let them think you are stupid instead of opening it and letting them know you are stupid.

shhhhhhhhhhsh

Unfair Practice?
As a general contractor as well as a proud NACHI member a sat on the sidelines as the H.I. industry was lobbing for their ability to perform wind mits out of respect my fellow NACHI members.
So here we are virtually anybody that has a heartbeat and takes a 2 hour class can now do insurance inspections as well as certify a roof, all for $75. Are you freaking kidding me! Read the many posts on this site from people performing these inspections that do not even have the** basic** understanding of structural roof design.
Do you actually think that i could hire someone and pay their workers comp. when my slice of the pie is $75 what would i pay them $2.50 per inspection. Perhaps if i could still charge $125 pre HI certification it would be possible, but not now.
If a home inspector would like too participate in this unfair business practice all you need too do is go out and get 8000 hours of structural construction supervisory experience, buy $1200 of books and study material, pass a 15 hour proctored exam, and you too can participate in this unfair business practice.
Oh and by the way was the jamb attachment to the structure on that otherwise non glazed impact entry door have the correct screw shank size embed depth and spacing indicated on the N.O.A? You signed the form attesting that it does. All for $75

Amen brother.
They see have no clue

Still wondering why conspectors are allowed to be NACHI members in the first place…

They should have their own NACHI (National Association of Conspectors (posing as) Home Inspectors.

Quick answer is, in most cases, we are every bit as qualified, and in some cases far more qualified than most. Don’t forget this organisation is founded and run by a conspector.

Exactally we have more verifiable qualifications than the average home inspector who just woke up one day and started calling himself a home inspector.

Pretty simple idea that you would want the BEST in the organization.

What happened James, did some big bad Contractor inform you that your BPI Certification won’t even entitle you to build a dog house? You sound intimidated!

Usually your post are constructive. (Get it, CONSTRUCT -ive). Try to keep it that way.

It’s easy to bash contractors for defects we find in buildings. In some cases they deserve it…But, to bash everyone that holds a license, show an incredible LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE BUILDING PROCESS.

Maybe, you should welcome Contractors who are Inspectors. You may find we have far more to offer than you believe.

If you are really following the Florida page. You may have noticed that the most helpful contributors to this form have been Evil Contractors. Just a thought!

Intimidated??? LOL

So…you can’t make a living as a contractor and have been forced into doing $75 mini-inspections for insurance salesmen in order to eat until you can get back to your former trade …and you think you are intimidating???

Hell, you guys are the reason people need home inspectors, for crying out loud. Your material defects are what we fill our reports with. If you didn’t exist … we would have to invent you.

James you are a so out there it is funny.

Most of us were into new construction. Any idea what is going on with the New Construction industry?

There is some work but guess what? No freaking money in it now. Matter of fact contracting is a GAMBLE and you do not even understand that. competition is fierce do to unlicensed hacks and everyone being broke. Inspecting is a sure thing. you do the work and you usually get paid what you have agreed upon. Contracting is a risk inspecting is much less. I do not expect you will ever get it or ever have any of the experience or qualifications Florida General Contractors have. You are just a jealous hater. Prove us wrong go get a license. I hear it is a cake walk where you are from. I know you would not have a chance in Florida. I bet I could become a Home Inspector in your State do you think you could become a General Contractor in mine? Hell no.

What did you do before you woke up and started calling yourself a home inspector?

Yes. The reduction in new work is such that only the good contractors can compete and find employment. The rest … well, you know…

yOU SHOW YOU IGNORANCE EACH TIME YOU SPEAK ABOUT CONTRACTORS. tHE SMART ONE ARE SITTING IT OUT UNTILL THINGS GET BETTER. wHAT DO YOU NOT GET ABOUT THERE NOT BEING ANY MONEY IN IT RIGHT NOW.

pEOPLE ARE PAYING TO WORK AND JUST TRYING TO KEEP THEIR EMPLOYEES WORKING. iT IS HARD TO COMPETE WITH THAT AND WHY WOULD YOU. yOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT cONTRACTORS AND i GUESS YOU DO NOT HAVE THE BALLS TO ANSWER ANYTHING ELSE i BROUGHT UP.

damn cap button

So James, Just wondering if your bored, or if you always talk such crap? You joined this organisation, which was founded by a “conspector”, and you seem to love to bad mouth them. If “conspectors” are so bad why do you continually pay your dues, and help to support one?

He always talks this crap. I think a Contractor boned his wife or girlfriend at least once.

I was trying to decide whether he had, small man syndrome, or small dick syndrome. Although your theory does fit quite well.

Something has happened to him for sure. The guys that were smart enough to become contractors probably kicked his a-s all the time when he was a kid. Then he probably saw a great many of them do very well for themselves and is pissed he could not be one. So he settled for something he could just call himself an expert at and inventory a house and pick apart others work to make a living. He is a real weirdo.
Those are my theories and I am sticking to them

Why would he ever come to the Florida Section.

I can say I never even go to the other State specific areas unless I needed to know something about that area and it has yet to happen.
