Model codes like the IRC require 1/2" anchor bolts at 6' spacing as a
minimum, which is hard to match with strap anchors. Therefore the strap anchors typically need to be at a closer spacing.
Here is a link to some typical strap anchors from Simpson (a popular manufacturer of connectors). Note that to be equal to the 1/2" bolts at 6', the heavier straps must be spaced about 5' apart, and the lighter duty straps must be spaced about 3' apart (table on the bottom left).
