What are these choices based on? I just got a building permit two weeks ago.

Our local requirements are currently 1 foot from corners, 6 foot spacing and 15" bolts.

Requirements for straps are closer spacing but there is not mention of them in my paperwork.

This is from the same building inspection department that allowed the contractor to use straps spaced up to 16 feet apart on my 7 yr old house.

Outside of new construction, is this something that HI's should be inspecting for? Should it be on the clients report?

Hi to all,

Dave is off today, so here goes:

The Correct answer to this question is "C" and is covered by IRC 403.1.6

This is concidered best practice but not neccesarilty adopted in all juristictions.

Gerry
