Looks to me like the service stack is What we in Canada Call thin wall conduit with rain tight conectors . This is not allowed in Ontario. We are allowed to use Plastic or thread pipe. Are you allowed to use

Thinwall ( EMT ) in all states . Thanks Roy Cooke sr.

Yes the use of EMT for service risers is allowed.

It is not a popular choice in my area, usually the service will be one of these, in this order.

1)SE Cable

2)PVC Pipe (Plastic)

3)RMC Pipe (Threaded)

icon_eek.gif It appears from the photo that the service entry is below the required height requirements…

True ... as long as there are raintight fittings (NEC 358.42) and it is not subject to "severe physical damage", like next to a driveway (NEC 358.12.1)

Also note that IRC Table 3701.4 lists EMT as acceptable where "Run exposed", but would not be acceptable where "Run exposed and subject to physical damage" ... hmmmmm ... would exposed EMT service conduit be "subject to physical damage" from a falling tree or flying debris is a storm ... ![icon_eek.gif](upload://yuxgmvDDEGIQPAyP9sRnK0D0CCY.gif)

I am absolutely amazed sometimes by how much thought goes into doing things wrong
