Painting old timber was also a way to provide treatment for powder post beetles, rather than using a chemical such as timbor.

I would also look for emergence holes... everywhere.

And rap, rap, rap, and probe, probe, probe...

I walked through a house last week that had had a minor fire in the kitchen. Black powdery soot was present in every room, on the walls, ceiling, and floor.

After a few minutes my throat began to burn and I started feeling sick from breathing the air in this house.

I would be very careful buying a house which has had a fire.

John I agree, I would be very leery too, many years ago I worked for an outfit that did fire restoration, talk about these guys milking the insurance companies. I believe that the properties title should contain some information as to the history of the property, such as fire, flood, and so forth, similar to an automobile title.
