Gerry I have never seen a 16 penny FINISH nail so if someone sends you some please forward one to me. I do have a 256 oz. framing hammer if you need one of them, or is that a sledge hammer?

See if you can find the companion to this. It is the instructions for trimming the legs and then the next picture is of the legs…not trimmed!
Added with edit: The funny thing about this installation was that whoever did it countersunk the screws further weakening the frame. I was leery going up and down those stairs as I had just eaten lunch!
