Sorry Ladies and Gentleman (I mean Gentlemen). I am used to Gerry backing me up if I get tied up and don’t post a QOD. I did not even check back to realize it had not happened. I will try to not let it happen again. I think Gerry has been having some computer problems. Anyway, here goes

How about another choice.

All of the above, and more!

I would say #1 except that the size of the overhang makes it look like it was originally built for a rear patio and sliding glass door.

I would consider this advertising.

Not allowed in a residential neighborhood.

If you were in Dublin, Ohio (where Jack holds the Muirfield Tourney) the sign MUST be brown. And yes all for sale signs (real estate) must be brown and white. They also have a landscape police. Not kidding.

The State of Ohio "tried" (under a federal law) to get those own barns that had a Mail Pouch ad on them to pay a permit fee to keep them.

Got to love america.

Thanks Kevin, I was trying to figure out what he meant.

The "correct" answer to this QOD, only in my opinion, but I wrote it, is that C is the correct answer. The reasoning for this, instead of "a" is that since I was not there when then house was built I don't know when the back doors were put on, so that could have been that way from the beginning. "C" is the correct answer because as inspectors for us to say what caused it could put us in a position of being incorrect which may lead to being second guessed. Simply stating that the missing brick would/could lead to water penetration and damage to structure covers the same thing without giving an opinion as to what the cause was.

Dave,

While I don't disagree with you much, I just have to on this one. I would never answer C in this type of situation. If water penetration is your concern with a large cantilever like that, you have bigger problems than the missing brick work.

Did you take the cantilever into account when the answer to this question was written?

I too must voice my dissent. Incomplete, but with that much soffit overhang there would have to be a good ol hurricane to beat water up there.

That was my reasoning also. Would have to be one heck of a sideways rain to get water in THAT opening!

This is my point with the QOD of late.

Dave and Gerry, we appreciate the hard work. The questions need clear and correct, referencable answers, otherwise they simply become talking points.

I go back to my contention with the QOD from 6-28 ...

As to this particular question. I agree with Joe M and Blaine. Water penetration? Maybe... just before the tornnado hits...
