Just inspected a 19 year old single story house and found two cement block piers in the crawlspace that were about 3/4 of a block short of reaching the main wood support beam. The “shims” used to make up the difference were two, side-by-side 2x6 blocks of wood standing on their ends, and these were placed not in the middle of the cement block stack under them, but on the far side. (Sorry, there is no option showing up on this board for me to attach a picture.)
Definitely does not look right! I’ve seen shims, but these are extreme. There were no problems I could find with the floor above or indications of issues being caused to the interior as a result. Anyone seen anything like this or have advice? I can email a picture if you think you can help.
