Roof pooling on flat roof?

I was doing an inspection and stumbled across this roof that is showing signs of a reddish color. My guess is it’s from the water pooling on the flat roof cause of the lack of drains or maybe heat and I’m thinking this is rust. Any thoughts on what causes the red coloring?

Algae stains are often black, brown, green, sometimes red or even yellow; mold stains can be in those colors as well as others mixed with atmospheric and environmental grime.
Ponding requires the water to remain on then roof 24 to 48 hours.
Looks like issues seeing green tarps with sand bags atop.

Yes, definitely evidence of ponding water. The red is a bio type growth (likely algae) which is one of a couple of indicators water is ponding in your photo. I also see ring patterns from ponding.

What’s going on with all the tarps and sandbags?

This is my brothers house it’s absolutely destroyed from the major hurricane we had had that destroyed all of it, ft. Myers as well. The inside the house one room the ceiling is completely gone you can see the attic from the room. I did a full inspection on the house it was great practice

Theirs an active water leak inside so my guess is that’s it’s their to stop water from coming in

Thanks man let me know if I’m posting to much

There is never too much inspection content. There is much to learn and teach here for us all. What else did you discover while doing your practice inspection?

Ian was a pr***.
