Service Conductors--3 in from the mast-4 in the Main Panel

Quick dumb question from a new guy here. Looking at the picture of the sub panel, is the bonding screw on the neutral bar backed out and loose? If so is that standard, or should the screw be removed completely?

Yes, if not it is installed.

Thanks, that what I thought. I’ve never liked seeing loose things in electrical panels, or wiring in general.

Finally I agree with you on one thing and one thing only.

That’s a start. Thank you

BTW there are no dumb questions. :sunglasses:

If the screw isn’t engaged into the metal then it’s fine the way that it is. Some manufacturer’s ship them this way so that they don’t get lost. I remove them and throw them away so someone in the future doesn’t look at it and decide to screw it in.

Thanks Robert, thats my thought too, but I had a moment of doubt that maybe I was oblivious to something. I know exactly the kind of folks that would see that green screw poking up and decide to “tighten” it down just for good measure…

I had a panel replacement inspected by an ESI (in Ohio) and he put his screwdriver in MY panel and stripped the green screw threads verifying that it was tight.

He is damn lucky that I did not report him. All screws have a torque rating. NO inspector code or home should ever put a tool in an electrical panel. Unless you want to buy it.

That was 15 years ago and I was still contracting and just bonded the panel another way. Today he would have had a problem with me. Even (some) code officials are ignorant.

Hey Robert, I want to share something that has always stuck with me regarding your comment on stupid questions. and this is not a smackdown.

The path to wisdom is to admit that you don’t know.

Very true Edwin!

Yea, no shit!

Hey guys;
I live in Butler county Ohio looking for a chapter for inspectors. I admit that I haven’t looked online for any locations. But I believe more in “word of mouth”. Looking forward to seeing your responses. :motor_scooter:

Hi Edwin,
I have looked at the InterNachi chapters, and it seems as Ohio does not have any. Maybe we should talk to Nick Gromicko to inquire about starting one? I am in Medina County.

Okay, then I formally nominate YOU for our chapter president or whatever the guy in charge is called. :us::musical_score:

What?? I already nominated you!:rofl:

Joe, I have these listed for Ohio, do they not exist anymore?

Ohio

Marcel,
None of these show up when I go to the Internachi Chapter page. The page does not show any in Ohio. I would be interested in the NE Ohio chapter,but clicking the NE Ohio link you provided takes you the the InterNachchi main page.
Click on the others and they all show the next meeting in Findley Ohio??

They have one in
Columbus grove, OH

and Cincinnati, OH
Findlay Ohio
I did not know how far that was from your place.
That is all I have for Ohio listed.

All I see is what Joseph sees. Finley Ohio. Nothing in Columbus or Cincinnati. I’m much closer to Cincinnati. Columbus is two hours away for me. I would have to make a day of it.

They have one member in Columbus listed;
Andrea Renner (NACHI14042601)
Hometown Inspections

Sorry, I guess there is nothing else.
