Sorry folks about the mentoring

My apologies everyone for asking for a Mentor, I had no right and it was kinda embarrassing especially when I already have my own way. The wife has cancer and I sometimes blurt things out without thinking because too much is going down, so fast. So Sorry.
Tom .

There is nothing wrong with mentoring. Whether the person is paid or not to mentor is a personal decision - like it or not. I do not know of any law in CANADA - that specifies that it is wrong or illegal.

I don’t think you did anything wrong. You don’t need to apologize. You were only asking for help.

Don’t ever fear asking for help. In this industry, this international board is going to be the best help you can get, bar none.
We’re all glad to help when needed.

Apologize?

Tom, smart people learn from other professionals. Court rooms are packed with people who think they know everything.

Tom,
Never stop asking questions. **Most **of us here are professionals, and look forward to assisting others. As you will spend time here, you will learn who are the non-professionals. Take them with a grain of salt.

My best wishes to you and your wife for what you are dealing with.
Jeff

You have nothing to be sorry about Tom. James Bushart said it best on another thread that you started.

Do not be sorry for wanting to learn, as my father-in-law likes to say " Nobody is born expeirienced, we all have to learn ". I was lucky to have had to good inspectors that have let me tag along with them since I started and it was some of the best learning I had. Keep looking and hopefully someone will be willing to help you out.

I find most inspectors that I know are more than willing to help another inspector,no harm in asking, even if you have to pay you will still learn something

Harry

Harry,
Good comment. Some feel if you charge for mentoring, you are some sort of blight on the industry.
If the mentoring is valuable, you should be prepared to pay for it. And it is invaluable. All new inspectors should try to find a mentor. Well worth every penny… or in today’s market, dollar!
