What is the issue that needs a structural engineer?

Randy is our resident Structural Engineer, Adria. :+1:

IMO if a foundation wall is bowed, it needs a qualified Foundation contractor to fix it.

True, once the Structural engineer tells him how to correct the problem. A qualified foundation contractor is an expert in form systems and pouring concrete methods. Not an expert to make structural repairs.

My walls are bowing, I got my front wall stabilized with carbon fiber, and now the remaining walls that has not been stabilized yet are bowing even further. Is this because of the weight is now on the remaining walls. I’m asking because I need to get the remaining walls stabilized or should I through in the towel and sell it to investors that ae hounding me to sell.

Nobody but yourself can decide if you love your home enough to spend the money needed to ensure its stability.

How much was the quote you got from a structural or foundation contractor to make the necessary repairs, how much is the home worth without the repairs, and how much will the home be worth with the repairs?

Ryan, yes, I love my home, however I feel I am putting in a lot of money into my home, I’m afraid that even if after the stabilization more issues will still arise. I don’t want to though in the towel as I own my home flat out, however again I think I just need assurance as to once I get the walls stabilized, will my home be structural sound where I don’t have to worry about my walls caving in on me.

None of us here can give you that assurance as we don’t know anything about your home or foundation. Best to call in a structural or foundation contractor to look at it in person and give you advice on how to proceed.

How long have you owned the home?

Woods is the biggest rip-off the quoted me an astronomical price. and their reviews on their website and the BBB are horrible.

I have called several foundation companies to be told completely different recommendations from its fine nothing will happen for at least 10 years to oh no you don’t need any stabilization. I’ve even contacted a so-called structural engineer who was clueless he gave an engineering report sealed and all. I guess I want assurance as to will the stabilization work or will there continue to be movement in my walls.

Randy, please see below.

Sagging floors or beams appear to be turning not
my fououndation is settlement cracks are everywhere inside and outside. My walls are bowing

Did your home inspector point these things out when you bought the home or did they happen after you bought?

I’ve been in my hoe for almost 6 years. These issues started after I had a very detailed home inspection.

When was the carbon stabilization done and have you contacted that company for an opinion on the remaining walls?

I just got the wall stabilized and it happened after I got the one wall stabilized. The company that did it said more than likely its because of the weight is now off of that wall and transferring to the remaining walls that still needs to be stabilized. Literally less than 3 months

Post some pictures of the foundation walls, including the “stabilized” area. Try and get some pictures showing the amount of bowing and also the cracks that you are seeing.
