Student Discussion: Residential Plumbing Overview for Inspectors Course

Just completed the residential electrical program, excited to start this one now!!

getting ready to start the section on plumbing. What is the most common issue that is discovered during an inspection in rural communtities? I am taking a stab in the dark and saying either improper septic sytems or contaminated or improperly placed wells. Thoughts?

Just starting the residential plumbing course.

Starting the course, looking forward to more learning.

About to start this section too. One bite at a time.

Starting this one myself. First time poster. I’m about half way through everything

I’ve tried my hand at plumbing repairs on my own house over the years, but I’m sure I have plenty to learn. Let’s do it!

Finished the Safe Practices course today. Beginning plumbing. Full steam ahead!

I have a feeling there will be a LOT of numbers to know in the plumbing section.

This is good information to know. Thank you!

This class helped make sense of a lot of plumbing topics that were previously confusing to me. I was able to identify several unsafe or incorrect aspects of my apartment’s plumbing that, so it had a personal as well as professional benefit.

From Michigan here and I just got through section 5 and I had several questions about my own system. I changed the electric water heater tank that was in the manufactured home I purchased to a larger capacity. The biggest question this course had given me so far is why did the tank that was installed, which was installed by the manufacturer of the home, did not have a thermal expansion tank on it. Should I have installed an expansion tank on the system? I didnt know it was a problem or what could be caused by not having one installed and since one didnt already exist it was fine. I feel like the answer is yes, but I would like some reinforcement since I’m not finding anything about electric tanks needing one.

Starting the course now. I’m looking forward to understanding venting and how the size of the vent is calculated

Just Starting this one. So far so good. Was so happy to see ABS as the first item on the Glossary of terms… It’s about all we see for drains here in Ontario, lol
