Sugar like substance inside window pane?

Home was built in 1972 and I found a sugar like substance in multiple windows in this house. Any input on what it is?

I have installed and serviced replacement windows for a better portion of 20 years and I’ve never seen this done. Lol, ingenious!

We have a local window manufacturer who make their own igu’s. They’ve made it fairly affordable at around $125 for a standard DH sash fix.

What is Included in Our Kit

1. Instructions, warning and disclaimer.

2. Dual-pane practice window (12 x 6 inches) with room for at least a dozen practice holes.

3. Gorilla tape (6 feet) to suspend the window from a smooth, vertical surface while drilling and also for sealing the hole.

4. Masking tape (3 feet) to suspend the lubricating water device.

5. Lubricating water flow system to minimize glass breakage while drilling.

6. Glass drill (about one-inch diameter), good for about 20 to 30 holes minimum.

7. Paper towel strips to absorb water that enters the space between the panes during drilling.

8. Tweezers and a piece of bent electrical wire to assist in inserting and removing the desiccant packs.

9. Medium (100 grit) sandpaper (2 small pieces) for smoothing the hole in the glass.

10. Window cleaning device (steel tape with an attached small square sponge) to clean between the panes.

11. Desiccant packs, narrow, indicating, 2 gram each (4 packs) and large and longer nylon tubes of indicating desiccant beads of about 13 grams each (3 tubes). All packs have an attached string loop to facilitate removal of the desiccant for charging. The indicating strip on the packs turns pink when recharging is required, and the indicating beads change from blue to pink when recharging is required (see instructions).

12. Desiccant packs indicate when they absorbed maximum moisture by turning pink and may be recharged in the oven. Kit includes 3 tubes with 13 grams of desiccant, and four small packs with 2 grams of desiccant each for maintaining fog-free windows.

What is Not Provided in the Kit

1. 3/8 inch power drill

4. Old towel to catch cooling water and glass bits

5. Windex or household ammonia to clean inside surfaces of dual panes
