What is the correct industry name for this switch. I belive it would be called the fan cut switch??? I completely understand its purpose/function, the name correct name has slipped my mind. It is the switch that shuts off the blower when the lower panel is removed from the furnace so that you keep all your fingers…

Peter, I call it a kill switch, and its job is to keep the furnace from running if the door is off. I think it’s also called a blower door safety switch.

Hmmm…
In the Installation manual for my furnace (you guys do keep all your manuals right?)
It says "...blower door safety switch... Warning: blower and burner must never be operated without the blower panel in place. (If the switch is broken, the unit will "think" that the panel is off and therefore not operate.)
But than again the manual also says "... Never use a flame to check for gas leaks..." LOL
